Didn’t sleep well and it shows? It doesn’t have to stay that way: Circles under the eyes can be easily concealed with a coordinated concealer color.
If you want to cover deep dark circles with concealer as best as possible, you should make sure you choose the right shade. Only if the shade is right can you really conceal the greenish-blue area under the eyes. Tikbow knows which shades are suitable and how best to apply the concealer.
The right concealer color for dark circles under the eyes
For dark, blue-grey shadows under the eyes, a concealer in shades from orange to apricot helps. Why? Because these are complementary colors, explains the Industrieverband Körperpflege- und Waschmittel (IKW) in Frankfurt. Complementary colors are colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel. In this case, for shadows that appear blue, a yellow to orange concealer is used. For light circles under the eyes, it is often sufficient to cover them with a moisturizing concealer that is one shade lighter than the skin tone, according to IKW.
Concealing dark circles with concealer – that’s how it works!
The most important thing when using concealer: tap, don’t swipe! Concealer is lightly and carefully tapped into the skin areas and then layered with just a touch of foundation üover. There is a reason why the concealer should be applied to the sensitive skin area with light tapping movements: If the products were applied by stroking and pulling, the fine collagen and elastin fibers in the skin would be too heavily stressed. This could make not only dark circles, but also wrinkles even more prominent.
Cosmetic experts also recommend massaging in an eye serum, for example products with plumping hyaluronic acid or collagen, in gentle circular motions before applying dark circles. The light massage reduces puffiness. In winter, a rich eye cream can also help to protect the sensitive skin in this area from the stressful cold and dry air.
Light makeup for a more alert look
In addition to concealer that conceals dark circles, a few other beauty products can also make a fresher impression after a night of little sleep: instead of dark outlines for the eyes or smoky eyes, opt for light, glowing tones. A light kajal applied to the waterline, for example, visually creates larger eyes.
A shimmering highlighter, for example in a champagne tone, applied to the highest point under the eyebrow or in the inner corner of the eye, also ensures a more alert look.
And a light blush in pink or coral colors, gently applied to the cheekbones, makes the complexion look fresher.
