Why don’t eyebrows grow as long as head hair?

You go to the hairdresser a few times a year because the wool on your head has become long again or the tips have split ends. But you never have to use scissors to trim your eyebrows. They always stay the same length. Why is it that the hairs on the eyebrow don’t grow as long as on the head? Tikbow knows the explanation.

Growth eyebrows vs. head hair

Hair has different properties in different parts of the body, which influence the growth rate. Hair on the head grows faster than hair on other parts of the body. This is due to the particularly active hair roots on the head. Hair roots have a lifespan of between six and eight years before they fall out. And what about the growth of eyebrows?

Eyebrows, like eyelashes, reach a very low growth rate and fall out before they can reach a length similar to head hair. This means that the maximum length of hair can be calculated by the growth rate and the maximum age of hair.

Artificial help for eyebrow growth

With age, the growth rate of hair decreases, this also applies to eyebrow hair. So it’s better to hold back a little when plucking your eyebrows! Or you can do it like Kim Gloss and have your head hair transplanted as eyebrows. A strip of skin is taken from the back of the head, from which the hair roots are then removed and implanted into the eyebrow with the help of stitches.

Not only does it feel painful, but it is also quite annoying. Finally, the newly implanted eyebrow hairs grow just as fast as head hair due to the roots of the head hair, i.e. about one centimeter per month.

What are the benefits of eyebrow care products?

What has been around for ages for eyelashes is now also popular for eyebrows. More and more beauty labels are focusing on the care of brows with special serums. To stimulate growth, expert Amira Staehle, founder of The Browery" (Berlin and München), recommends additionally caring for the eyebrows with castoröl : "It is rich in proteins, vitamins, fattyäacids and antioxidants that nourish the hair follicles and stimulate hair growth."
