If you’ve been washing your hair every day until now, try putting a day or two between washes. - Essential oils – Although it may sound strange to use oils on oily hair, certain oils can actually regulate and inhibit sebum production. Tea tree oil and peppermint oil, in particular, work wonders and ensure that hair doesn’t become greasy again as quickly. It is important to use only pure and high-quality oils from the pharmacy or health food stores. To use, simply mix a few drops of oil with a little water or a mild shampoo and distribute in the hair. Leave on for a few minutes and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
- Chamomile tea – Chamomile has a calming effect on the sebaceous glands and can therefore counteract greasy hair. It also soothes the scalp and reduces itching and is a real miracle cure for dandruff. To make it, add four tea bags of chamomile tea to about one liter of hot water and allow to cool. Wash the hair as usual and then use the tea as a rinse and do not rinse.
- Apple cider vinegar – The mixture of water and vinegar is known as acid rinse and is one of the most effective tips against oily hair. Add approximately two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to a liter of water and rinse the hair with it after washing. However, do not worry – the smell of vinegar will disappear after about 30 minutes.
- Lemon juice provides a lot of minerals and vitamins that improve the health of hair and scalp. The acid restores the ph level of the scalp and, similarly to apple cider vinegar, regulates sebum production. To do this, squeeze the juice of two lemons and mix with about 150 ml of water and 1 tablespoon of honey. Apply the mixture to the hair, leave on for 10 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.
