Mullet is the trend hairstyle of the summer – who it suits, how to style it

The mullet is back and quite unironically. After the trend peak of the “front-short-back-long” hairstyle in the 80s and a subsequent bad-button phase, the cheeky cut is now back in a new interpretation.

Youngest member of the mullet club: US pop star Demi Lovato! She strode with the hairstyle üon the red carpet at the iHeartsRadio Music Awards in Los Angeles. She combined the fresh look with a midnight blue velvet suit by Dundas and dark blue made-up smockey eyes.

Who does the mullet look good on?

Other celebrities like Miley Cyrus, Debby Ryan or Bill Kaulitz also wear the trendy hairstyle and stand out neatly with it. One thing is clear: the mullet brings a real type change with it, which you should wear confidently. Anyone who enjoys new styles and provocation should go to the hairdresser immediately.

How suitable is the mullet for everyday use?

Basically, a mullet requires lots of styling and care not to look unkempt. For a sleek, cool look, apply leave-in conditioner and heat protectant to damp hair. Comb hair into place and shape with fingertips. To finalize the look, use hair wax to smooth the hair. Since the hair is a little longer at the back, it can also be tied into a casual chignon or braid.

The important thing with the mullet is the overall look: the outfit should give the hairstyle the appropriate framework, so that it is also perceived as a statement and not as a hairdressing accident.
