Garçon Cut – the changeable short hairstyle in check

Garçon Cut means boys’ haircut, but it is a real classic hairstyle for women. Tikbow explains exactly what it looks like and gives tips on how best to style and maintain the short hairstyle.

Garçon Cut – what is it?

The Garçon Cut appeared in Hollywood as early as the 1920s. But its breakthrough came four decades later, when model and style icon Twiggy wore it on her head. This is how the cool cut became a trendy hairstyle that is still extremely popular.

Generally, for the Garçon Cut the sides are cut, the top hair remains long. However, there is a whole range of variants to cut the short hairstyle: strict with accurately cut sides and a clear focus on the perfectly shaped top hair, for example. Or very feminine with a feathery round cut bangs and loose forward falling top hair. A third variant is a very füllig top hair to the extreme Undercut.

Who does the short haircut suit?

The Garçon Cut looks great especially on women with oval face shapes. The fleshy top hair then contrasts beautifully with the shape of the face. But no matter what the shape of the face, those who choose the cut should know that the hairstyle emphasizes not only the face, but also the shape of the head and neck. Especially women with fine hair love the cut. The üppige upper hair to short sides provides an extra portion of volume.

What is the best way to style the Garçon Cut?

Despite its shortness, there are numerous styling options for the boy cut. Undone is one of the most popular. For this, simply knead a little wax or salt spray into the hair, tousle through, done. This is especially nice with curly hair, but straight hair can also be styled in this very casual way.

Smooth to sleek

The well-behaved, sleek version also works with the haircut. For this, simply work with a round brush and hair dryer or a straightening iron. If the hair is straight, accentuate the tips with a little wax. If your hair does not shine on its own, a shine spray can help. If you want it even smoother, even sleek, you can help with gel wax. This is comb into the hair from the back to the front. Hairspray fixes the look.

If you want to add volume to your head with the Garçon Cut, you can use highlights. But be careful: the strands should look very natural. Everything that goes in the direction of block strands is taboo with this short hairstyle (and actually always). By the way, hair mascara also works for temporary highlights. This can be easily washed out again.

How do I care for the Garçon Cut?

If you regularly use products and hairdryers or straightening irons for styling, be sure to follow a care program. Use shampoos that remove all Rückstände from the hair, as well as care products such as conditioners and hair treatments. Also, make sure to apply heat protection to your hair before blow-drying, otherwise the heat can be very damaging to your hair. If your hair tends to be greasy, apply the chosen product (gel, wax, salt spray) preferably only to the ends;
