At the end of the month in Hollywood, not only the Academy Awards, better known by the nickname “The Oscars 2015”, will be awarded, but also the fashion of the rich and beautiful will be extensively evaluated by the press. While an eclectic range of black evening suits admittedly predominates among the gentlemen, the actresses are taking advantage of the moment to stand out with designer gowns.

“Oscars 2015” host Neil Patrick Harris.

So before we dedicate ourselves to the winners and highlights of the awards ceremony, as we did last year, we would like to venture a little outlook and a prediction or two regarding the showcase on the red carpet. Since 2002, the mega event has been held at the Dolby Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. For the first time, the host will be actor Neil Patrick Harris (“How I Met Your Mother,” “Doogie Howser,” “M.D.”), who has previously hosted the Tony Awards four times and the Emmy Awards twice and is guaranteed to weave several song and dance numbers into his presentation. In addition to varying costumes, he will of course wear a tailored suit. We’re guessing a subtly shimmering tuxedo in black, charcoal gray or a very dark shade of blue. He will probably wear a bow tie with it, which, in keeping with the occasion, looks a bit more ceremonial than the conventional tie, and has a long tradition among Oscar hosts.

In his free time, too, Harris is always fashion-conscious, albeit much more casually. Photographers usually capture him on walks in a combination of cloth pants and shirt (always with a belt), but sometimes it may also be the short cargo pants with a fitness T-shirt. He also likes to wear checkered shirts (as for example on this picture above). Such shirts in similar check patterns and body-hugging cuts, as well as matching pants and belts of the brand Scotch & Soda can be found by our readers in the Frontlineshop. The dignified jacket can also be found there.

The dresses of the Oscars 2015 how much pomp awaits us?

To know who is guaranteed to walk the red carpet of the Dolby Theatre, you just have to look at the class photo of the nominees published a few days ago (you can find it, for example, on the official site of the Oscars). Stars like Reese Witherspoon, Benedict Cumberbatch, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone, Meryl Streep, Laura Dern, Michael Keaton, Bradley Cooper or Edward Norton, among others, will be in attendance. Even non-nominated stars like Angelina Jolie (most recently directed the drama Unbroken) are not likely to miss this must-see event. In the recent past, since the legendary high-slit dress with demonstratively protruding leg, Jolie has usually opted for a dignified evening dress, which discreetly emphasizes the upper body and waist and may also be partially transparent, but always turns out stylish and glamorous.

From Emma Stone we expect something cheeky, eye-catching like the red dress by Giambattista Valli from 2012. We are particularly curious about the outfit of Patricia Arquette, who repeatedly caused a stir with her wardrobe during her career at the Oscars. However, the wild times of 50s outfits and glittery tops are quite a while back. Her most eye-catching dresses were in the second half of the 90s, when she was still married to Nicolas Cage. This year, however, we are expecting an exciting style comeback. Cate Blanchett, who already has a supporting and a leading actor Oscar to her name, is likely to once again appear body-hugging and in seasonal colors. We’re pretty sure about that.
