Make your own self tanner from 3 ingredients
How would you describe your skin? If words like pastel, pale and practically translucent come to mind, you should try this recipe!
8 bags of black tea
500 ml filtered water
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
Bring 500 ml of water and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract to a boil. Pour the boiling liquid over the tea bags and let them steep for at least 8 minutes. After removing the tea bags, let your homemade natural remedy cool down well. This may take 30 minutes or longer.
Before you apply the homemade cosmetic product, there are a few steps to follow. First, make sure your skin is exfoliated. You don’t have to do anything fancy, but scrub the area you want to tan thoroughly with a washcloth a few hours before applying the self-tanner. It’s also a good idea to moisturize your skin. If you can manage that, it will be easier to get a good, even skin tone.
After your skin is prepped and the homemade remedy has cooled, you can apply it. Take a spray bottle, spray the liquid on your body and rub it in with your hands.

Making tanning cream with frankincense oil
Learning how to make self-tanner at home will not only save you money, but it will also allow you to control exactly what you apply to your skin. This natural self tanner DIY recipe is good for your skin thanks to ingredients like frankincense essential oil.
For this DIY recipe for natural self tanner, you only need 3 ingredients.
250 ml of good quality unscented lotion.
1 to 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
8 to 10 drops of frankincense essential oil
- DIY Self-Tanner Preparation:
Add cocoa powder to the lotion and mix well. The second step in making self tanners at home is to add the essential oil. Frankincense essential oil is a great addition to this tanning lotion as it has antiseptic, antifungal, antibacterial, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. It fights acne-causing infections if it can’t prevent them in the first place, and soothes inflamed skin. Frankincense essential oil also has astringent properties that can shrink pores.
Pour the homemade self-tanner into a jar, seal it and store it in a cool, dry place.
Make your own self-tanner – tea and sesame oil.
180 ml boiling water
3 tea bags
60 ml lanolin
60 ml sesame oil
Pour the boiling water over the tea bags. Let the tea steep for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove the tea bags and put 60 ml of tea in a blender. Add the lanolin and sesame oil and blend all the ingredients on slow speed: slowly add the rest of the tea while blending. Apply this homemade self-tanning remedy sparingly to your skin. It will last until your next shower or until your skin comes in contact with water.
You can also put this self-tanner in a spray bottle and make it into a self-tanning spray.
Produce tanning oil yourself with home remedies – coffee.
140 g of used coffee grounds (warm).
2 tablespoons of olive oil
Mix the coffee grounds and the olive oil. Apply it to your legs, arms, face and anywhere else you want color. Leave it on for 15 minutes before washing it off.
Fill a bath with warm water and add the coffee grounds. Stir the bath and let the water soak in. The longer you stay in the water, the darker your skin will become.
Tip for your face: rub the coffee grounds gently and evenly on your facial skin. Avoid rubbing it on your eyes, nose, ears and lips and leave it on for 30 minutes. Rinse your skin completely and dry it as usual.
Remember that most of these remedies and products that you can use to tan yourself at home are not waterproof and will disappear after your first shower. But if you want to get a tan the same day, these remedies could be your salvation.
Homemade self-tanner with walnuts
Self-tanner with nuts is probably the most difficult thing to make, but it’s really worth it because the effect is fantastic. You need green walnut shells, so this product can be made only in autumn.
- How to make it
You will need to squeeze the fresh juice from the shells, for example by crushing them on a grater and pressing the juice through a gauze or a very fine sieve. If someone has a juicer, it is easier. You can also boil whole nuts for about 8 hours, mix the juice with a tablespoon of vinegar and apply the mixture to the skin.
