More and more people are targeting their wrinkles with Botox. However, the nerve toxin is no longer the only weapon against aging. Five alternatives let you look younger and fresher without any intervention.
For some beauty-conscious people, Botox is now almost as normal as a visit to the hairdresser. Nevertheless, many women and men are not really comfortable with the nerve toxin, also because of fear of possible risks. Stars like Kim Kardashian and Kate Middleton are already turning to natural alternatives. These are called Frotox, Facial Acupuncture or Biotulin. But what exactly is behind them? Tikbow explains the most popular Botox alternatives.
Frotox is made up of the words Botox and Freeze. In this type of wrinkle treatment, the person performing the treatment uses a syringe to inject liquid nitrogen into the affected areas. This causes the nerves to cool to minus 70 degrees. This causes the muscles all around to relax and thus be immobilized. Since Frotox only treats targeted nerves, there is residual movement in the face. This means that the face does not become stiff and immobile during this alternative treatment, as is the case with Botox. With Frotox, the effect begins immediately after treatment.
Application: The treatment takes place under local anesthesia. A needle is inserted into the desired area and the nitrogen is injected under the skin. A treatment can last up to 30 minutes and costs about 350-400 euros.
Non-invasive alternative: Botox patches/face pads.
Botox patches or facial pads are designed to reduce expression lines on the forehead and eyes and prevent new wrinkles. When the patches are applied, the facial muscles are supposed to relax, making the expression look younger and fresher. In addition, blood circulation is promoted and cell renewal is stimulated by the special texture of the pads. The patches are made of skin-friendly cotton, air permeable and with acrylate adhesive. The anti-allergenic properties make them suitable even for very sensitive skin.
Application: After cleansing the face, the pads are applied to dry and non-oily skin. You can apply them between the eyes, on the nasolabial folds, forehead or chin. The pads are best left on the skin üovernight. A pack of 100 pads costs about 20 euros.
Even cosmetic medicine now relies on acupuncture. Facial acupuncture is said to work through stimulation alone. Among other things, qi (life energy) is supposed to flow freely through the body again. In addition, collagen production and muscle tone are stimulated. This then minimizes the formation of wrinkles. The lifting effect comes from the small injuries inflicted on the skin. This is because they are supposed to stimulate the self-regeneration process, which is also responsible for the firmness of the skin.
Application: This Botox alternative often begins with a detailed pulse and tongue diagnosis. Then the acupuncturist distributes the needles. These are not pricked directly into the wrinkles, but are distributed over the face. For an additional tightening effect, the skin is also massaged. Approximately 60 needles are used per treatment, which remain in the skin for 20 minutes. Recommended are 6-10 sessions in three weeks. If the acupuncture is repeated once a month, the result should last up to five years. The cost is between 40-70 euros per session.
Hyaluronic acid instead of Botox
Hyaluronic acid is one of the most common fillers for wrinkles. Almost every anti-aging cream advertises this ingredient, which is identical to the body’s own hyaluron. As the body produces less and less of it with age, the formation of wrinkles increases. Hyaluronic acid is responsible, among other things, for binding water in the skin. Thus, a natural padding of the wrinkles is possible. The body naturally breaks down hyaluron.
Application: There are several ways to apply hyaluron for wrinkle reduction. In the "light" version, a serum is worked into the skin using ultrasound. The effect is immediate, but disappears after a few days. Volume loss can also be treated with Liquid Lifting. Hyaluronic acid fillers are injected under the skin, which provide volume and also bind the water in the skin. A double effect that lasts up to three months and costs about 350-400 euros. One treatment with the serum is about 100 euros.
Botox alternative Biotulin
Many stars, including Madonna and Duchess Kate, now swear by this combination of active ingredients. The gel is supposed to reduce wrinkles in a natural way and achieve results similar to those of Botox treatment. Biotulin is not injected under the skin, but applied to the wrinkles. It is said to be absorbed particularly quickly and to take effect within the first hour. Even the prevention of new wrinkles is said to be possible with regular application. Biotulin consists of natural active ingredients such as paracress and hyaluron. The effect of the gel is said to last up to 24 hours.
Application: Biotulin is used very sparingly. One drop should be enough to cover a part of the body such as the face, neck or décolleté. The gel must be gently massaged in and applied before applying your own day care. Depending on your preference, it can also be used several times a day. One package costs about 50 euros.
