New infections in Malta have dropped sharply in recent weeks and as of May 10, stores, restaurants and cafes are allowed to serve customers again. Since April 27, entry to Malta from countries on the so-called “Amber List” (Safe Corridor Countries) is again possible upon presentation of a negative PCR test that is not older than 72 hours at the time of entry. If a negative test cannot be presented, tourists must take a test at the airport or enter a 14-day quarantine. In addition, inbound tourists must complete a “Public Health Travel Declaration” and a “Passenger Locator Form” and submit them at the airport prior to their Malta vacation. From 01 June, fully vaccinated persons will be allowed to enter the country 14 days after receiving the second vaccination dose without PCR testing – but only if the “EU Green Vaccination Card” is in place by then.

From 17 May

  • Restaurants and cafes are allowed to be open until midnight.
  • Pools in hotels may be used for swimming until 8pm.

From June 1

  • Tourism starts again.
  • The use of masks on beaches and in pools will no longer be required by law.

From June 7.

  • Restaurants will allow 6 people per table (previously four).
  • Groups of up to 6 people are allowed in public (previously four).
  • Theaters and movie theaters will reopen.
  • Clubs and bars can reopen according to restaurant protocols.
