A beautiful door wreath can decorate the entrance area at any time of the year and on any occasion – including spring. Because welcoming guests with a door wreath makes for an even more inviting atmosphere. If you don’t like lush and cluttered designs for wreaths, but prefer to create subtle eye-catchers with a few accents, a door wreath with a ring is exactly the right choice. However, not as usual a Styrofoam ring is used, but a pretty embroidery hoop or metal ring, which in the end, together with a few decorations, gives the wreath an elegant look that everyone will be envious of. We will show you instructions for this type of door wreath with ring, as well as some sample compositions as inspiration for your own creations.
For the door wreath with ring, as for any other variant, you can use real or artificial plants as you like. Real flowers and plant parts may look more alive, but they need to be replaced regularly. Artificial alternatives, on the other hand, look confusingly similar to the real thing these days and ensure that you can display the wreath for as long as you like, whenever you like. The choice is yours!
Decorate door wreath with ring of metal for spring.
If you’re using a metal ring for the door wreath , you have a choice – go for the multi-row one, which is a bit more eye-catching and can showcase a more lush arrangement, or go for a very thin model for an even more minimalist look. Or you can go a step further and bend thin wire completely at will to create your own design. For example, how about a wavy look or zigzag? Be creative. For example, you could design the door wreath with ring in the following way with artificial green plants:
- Metal ring
- artificial greenery and flowers
- floral wire
- Wire pliers
Choose the part of the ring that you want to design. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the lowest area. An arrangement on one of the sides also looks very pretty because of the asymmetry. At the chosen spot, first tie your largest element with the floral wire. Around it, you can then spread the smaller ones, with the smallest ones being placed last. Tuck any flowers here and there for color accents among the greenery to create a pretty door wreath with ring (lavender in the example, but spring flowers like snowdrops, daffodils or crocuses are also great).
No matter what kind of metal ring is chosen for the wreath, the procedure remains the same. On a thinner model, you just need to tie the elements a little tighter, otherwise they can slip more easily due to the small contact area.
Beautiful door wreath with spring flowers in embroidery frame
With embroidery frame, in principle, you do not proceed differently than with a door wreath made of wire. Again, you start with the largest element. If you are using lush flowers (peonies in the example), you could start with the greenery and spread it out, then attach the flowers on top. This way, the flowers turn into the main element and the greenery is just for framing. However, if you are using smaller flowers, you can also use them as color accents as in the metal ring example and tuck them in between the greenery. The result is a wonderfully pretty metal ring decoration for spring!
Before you tie everything up right away, you can first lay the ring in front of you and spread all the elements on it. This will give you an idea and you can easily change, replace and rearrange the elements without having to untie the whole arrangement again. In turn, you can paint the embroidery frame made of wood in any color to make the arrangement even more colorful.
Design embroidery hoop with tree blossoms as Easter bunny
Springtime is also Easter time at some point, so wreaths that take this celebration as a theme are an equally great craft idea. Isn’t this Easter bunny just plain cute? And it’s not hard to make, either. Using hot glue, glue artificial tree branches with flowers at the bottom to the side of the ring. Cut the ears out of either paper or felt, and they can be any color, not just white. Place the ring on the bottom edge of the ears, fold this edge over on the back side and glue it in place. If you want, you can still make a banner with Easter saying (for example, “Happy Easter!”) and hang in the ring.
Combine three rings
Not only a single ring looks great. The combination of three different sized metal rings is simple and striking at the same time and times a great change from the classic. A little greenery and a spring flower here and there and you get a spring decoration that everyone will be envious of!
- metal rings in three sizes
- green artificial leaves (e.g. fern)
- artificial tulips in any color (or other spring flowers)
- florist’s tape
- thin wire
- possibly hot glue
You can put the three rings together as you like and then tie them tightly with the wire. And then you can also start designing. The best way to tie the leaves and flowers to the rings is with green florist tape. It is recommended to choose a place where you also tied two of the rings together to hide the wire, but of course other areas are allowed. Attach the greenery first and then accent with the flowers. You can also glue these in place with hot glue.
Craft door wreath with ring – Use other elements
Not only with flowers and parts of plants you can create such minimalist wreaths for the door. You are welcome to use other decorative elements. Just be careful not to overdo it with the amount, so that the simple, elegant look is preserved. Just make sure that some of the ring remains visible. For example, how about a few long strips of fabric hanging loosely from the ring or a pretty macramé? Subtle bows are also suitable and even homemade paper flowers (suitable for indoor use only). Come up with something beautiful!
