Easter basket making with balloons
Instead of using boring Easter baskets from the store, you could make your own with these instructions! You can choose the color of the basket and design it according to your taste. Making Easter decorations with balloons is always a great project to do together with your child. Making it will surely contribute to a good festive mood.
If you make Easter decorations by yourself or with the kids, you can boost the festive mood in no time.
- Sliding pins
- Blunt needle with a large eye
- Colorful yarn
- Small bucket
- Paste of 1 part glue + 1 part water
- Fabric hardening spray
- Decorative yarn (optional)
- False moss (optional)
- Rabbit figurine (optional)
- Plastic eggs (optional)
Step 1: Blow up a large balloon to form the bottom of your DIY Easter basket. Tie the balloon closed and set it aside.
Step 2: Add glue to the string. Place the spool of colored string in a bucket. Fill the small bucket halfway with the paste and water mixture. Let the string soak in the solution for a few minutes. The coated string will hold the shape of the basket.
Step 3: Wrap the balloon. Tie the string soaked in the glue and water paste to the balloon string. Begin wrapping the colored string around the balloon to create an egg-shaped bottom.
This step is a great way to get your kids involved in the craft. Their hands may get a little dirty, but it’s definitely worth it!
Wrap string around the balloon. Wrap the string around and over the balloon until it looks like a spider web. The more you crisscross the strands, the better, as this will create the structure of the basket.
Step 4: Spray! Spray the balloon wrapped with twine evenly with fabric enhancer. This will keep the twine in place when you pop the balloon later. Allow the balloon and twine to dry for 24 hours.
Step 5: Pop the balloon! Poke the balloon with a toothpick and let the air escape from the balloon. You may need to pop the balloon in two different places to allow the air to escape from the balloon faster.
Step 6: Cut out the basket Cut a hole in the oval-shaped basket. This is the opening of the basket where you can place your Easter decorations. Then take the leftover balloon scraps from inside the basket.
Step 7: Decorate and personalize your basket! Fill it with artificial moss or grass. Decorate the inside and outside of the basket as you like.
