Craft simple carnival decorations for the windows
Whether at home, in the kindergarten or in the classroom at school, a colorful window decoration is always a good choice for carnival. For the windows, a hanging decoration is perfect because it is quick and easy to put up and take down. If you would like to make a pretty carnival decoration for the window with the kids, we will now explain how to make a colorful mobile yourself.
Make a mobile out of colorful paper
What you need:
- Embroidery hoop or metal ring
- colored paper, clay cardboard
- circle punch, 5 cm diameter
- hot glue gun
Measure the desired length of the string and cut it to the desired length. You will need several strings to cover all sides of the embroidery hoop.
Punch out circles from your cardstock. You will glue 2 circles at a time along the string.
Put a nice amount of glue on the surface of one circle and place the string in the center of the shape. Then quickly apply glue to the “partner” and glue the piece directly to it. Continue until you cover the whole string with colorful circles.
Tie the resulting garlands to the embroidery frame and hang it on the window or wherever you want.
Craft window decorations with carnival masks
With some simple carnival masks templates you can also make a decoration for the windows. A simple idea would be to stick two pieces of colored tape directly to the window pane and decorate it with brightly painted carnival masks. To decorate the masks, children can use different materials such as sequins, decorative stones, pom-poms, felt, paper, etc.
Decorate a carnival tree
Just like you decorate an Easter tree at home for Easter, you can use the same idea for the upcoming carnival. First, make some atmospheric carnival decorations with the kids. Colorful masks, garlands, ribbons, rosettes and pompoms are quite suitable. Then put some twigs and branches in a vase, which you put on the floor or on a table. Use the pre-made decorations to decorate the branches and voila – you’ve conjured up a pretty carnival decoration without much effort.
Carnival decoration craft with clowns
What would a carnival be without some funny clowns ? If you are just browsing for carnival decoration ideas, then you simply can not pass by these funny characters. You can craft atmospheric clowns from a variety of materials and use them to decorate the walls, windowsills or shelves in the house or kindergarten. Here we have two interesting ideas that you can try with the kids this year.
Craft a clown with colorful sock
We will now show you step by step how to make a pretty clown using a sock, styrofoam balls and pipe cleaners – a simple yet stimulating carnival decoration that you can make with kids of all ages.
- colorful sock
- Styrofoam balls, two different sizes
- Pipe cleaner
- yarn (string, wool or other)
- Wiggle eyes
- cardboard and black card
- black felt pen
Cut the sock below and above the heel so that it is divided into three parts.
Place the larger Styrofoam ball in the bottom part of the sock and tie the top part closed with a piece of wool thread. You can also use rice for the clown’s body. Just fill the sock as much as you need and close it well.
Place the upper part of the sock over the small Styrofoam ball and tie the sock with a piece of string. This will make the hat.
Glue the body and the head together with hot glue.
To make the face, glue a pair of wiggle eyes and a red pom-pom for a nose.
For the hair, use a colored pipe cleaner. Roll the pipe cleaner on a pencil to curl it, carefully pull it off the pencil and cut it into several pieces. Then tuck the “curls” under the hat.
Cut out of black paper a kind of heart shape and use it to cover the same cardboard template, so that some thickness is achieved. Then attach the feet to the clown’s body using hot glue.
Carnival clown with sock is almost ready, we add the finishing touches: make a big bow with the colorful ribbon, which will be attached to the neck and attach a colorful button under it.
Here is the finished work: a very funny clown, which you can make with children of any age at home or at school and decorate with it atmospheric for Carnival.
Craft clown to hang with template
You can easily craft this funny clown with kids using a printable template. Here is everything you need:
- colored clay paper
- black felt-tip pen
First, print out the template. The template includes the hair, hat, body, hands, and shoes, as well as 4 circles: 1 for the nose, 2 for the shoes, and 1 for the pointy end of the clown hat.
Then choose different fun colors for your paper clown. Trace the templates onto the appropriate paper and cut them out with scissors.
Measure the width of the body (the clown’s chest) and cut a long strip of colored construction paper the same width. Then fold the piece of paper like an accordion.
Now, when you already have all the parts of the clown, glue them together to finish the carnival decoration. Finally, draw the rest of the clown’s facial features with a black felt-tip pen.
You can make several clowns and use them as wall decorations or decorations to hang.
