Supermodel Coco Rocha: “All models experience abuse.

As a young teenager Coco Rocha was discovered at a dance competition, a few years later she belonged to the exclusive supermodel elite. That this path was anything but easy and that she paid a high price for success, the Canadian now talked about in an interview.

"I don’t think people have on their radar what models really have to deal with", said the 33-year-old in an interview with "Page Six" on the sidelines of a DKMS gala. This includes abuse – an experience that unfortunately all models would suffer through, Rocha said. For the mother of three, this was reason enough to launch the "Coco Rocha Model Camp" initiative in 2018, with which she wants to prepare young women in training sessions for the tough fashion industry.

She spends hours discussing with victims their rights both as human beings and in her role as a model: “I myself have experienced the bad, the good and the wonderful, and I want these women to experience only the good and the wonderful,” says Rocha, explaining her commitment.

Her own negative experiences include the pressure of having to be extremely dünn for business: "When I was 16, 17, I ate according to a very special plan and did so much sport that I didn’t have a period for a year", the model says. She then shifted down a gear and became aware of what she really wanted: "I was tired of people in the industry making me feel inferior", Rocha continues.

In the summer of 2010, she married British interior designer James Conran, and five years later their first daughter was born. In 2018 and 2020, a son and another daughter followed. On Instagram, the mom of three takes her nearly two million fans to shoots and red carpets, but also always shows beautiful snapshots from her cosmopolitan life.
